Appearance: Being an invisible man his entire face is wrapped in a layer of white cloth with the exception of a plastic nose, for you see, it is quite unheard of to be invisible amongst humans, and even vampires and werewolves. His body is completely transparent yet his body retains a lean and lightly muscled build and is of medium height being of about 6 feet tall. Most of his clothing are devoted to the sole purpose of keeping his invisibility secret, and this gives him a visible aura of mystic. Besides the plastic nose and white cloth he wears a large, clunky pair of semi-transparent goggle or sunglasses for his eyes are incredibly sensitive to light thanks to the fact that his eyelids are transparent. His attire is made up of loose fitting clothing that can usually be discarded in a few seconds if he is ever in need of a speedy getaway. What he does wear is a large overcoat with the collar usually turned up to shadow his face, a white shirt with the tie usually undone and a plain pair of pants. A special addition to his overcoat is it is custom made and is lined with an uncountable number of pockets. These pockets are home to a myriad of small daggers and stilettos.
History: Jack Griffin was a former medical student, and a brilliant one at that who worked for Dr. Cranley, assisting him in his food preservation experiments alongside his friend Arthur Kemp. Griffin was deeply in love with Cranley's daughter, Flora, and the two planned to marry. Griffin was afraid that he had nothing to offer her, however, and so began experimenting with an obscure and dangerous drug called monocane in hopes that his work would make him rich and famous, and therefore a worthwhile husband for Flora.
Griffin discovered that when combined with other chemicals, monocane made a formula capable of rendering a person invisible. Too excited by his discovery to think clearly, Griffin left Kemp and the Cranleys to complete the experiment in solitude. He injected himself with the formula over the course of a month, and became invisible. It was only after Griffin had attained invisibility that he realized he had not thought of how to turn himself visible again.
Panicking, Griffin went to the small village of Iping and rented a room in the Lion's Head Inn, where he began searching for a formula to reverse the experiment. During this time, he rendered himself visible by wrapping his head in bandages and wearing dark goggles.
The prying eyes of curious locals, combined with the maddening side-effects of monocane and the frustration that came as a result from his repeated failed tests, drove Griffin insane. After assaulting Jenny Hall and severely injuring her husband, Herbert, Griffin shed his clothing, becoming totally invisible, and eluded the police. He sought help from Kemp, but by now the monocane had driven him so insane that he was seriously entertaining thoughts of world domination, and wanted Kemp to be his visible partner and assistant.
Not even a visit from Flora and her father helped ease Griffin's mounting insanity. He vowed to kill Kemp after his old friend had alerted Inspector Lane to his whereabouts, and despite intensive police protection surrounding Kemp, Griffin eventually made good on his threats. After killing Kemp, he sought refuge from the cold in a farmer's barn. The farmer summoned the police, who set fire to the barn. As Griffin fled the burning structure, just barely escaping with his life and fatal wounds. Found a depression in the snow he was bitten by a vampire out of sympathy, and he is still unaware of his current state.
Personality:
Mysterious
Wherever he treads he carries an aura of mystic, his clothes accentuating this trait as well as his quiet and calm manner. He hides the many bandages that cover his face behind the guise that he was disfigured in a terrible accident and sometimes tells he is the victim of an unlicensed surgeons. Every so often he likes to spin a tragic yet believable yarn about the origin of the bandages, for it is one of the few things that bring him joy in his pitiful existence.
Hellbent
He is utterly obsessed with the concept of becoming visible and it talk about it constantly, but only with those he trusts deeply. To those he does not he acts as if he is nothing but an antisocial not a very nice person. When he wants to be left alone, leave him alone, when he says piss off, piss off, and when he says your a dead man, your a dead man. He follows almost every word he utters to a par and would be a very honest individual if not for his tendencies to bend the words of others to suit his own goals and ambitions.
Short-tempered
His temper is a voracious beast, at times set off by the most minute of irritations. These things could be quite varied depending upon his mood, which is one of the most unpredictable and erratic parts of his personality. One moment he could be having an idle conversation about nothing in particular and the next he could be at your throat with a knife. His mood follows a sort of pattern, though. At night he is much less irritable than during the day, the reason for this being he can barely stand sunlight thanks to a pair of completely transparent eyelids.
Heartless
Emotions is something he believes himself incapable of, but he is, even if in very minute amounts, but of the wrong kind. The intense stress of nearly four years' continuous work left him incapable of any strength of feeling, all to attain something in the end he wished to be rid of. Although he wishes to recover some of the enthusiasm that allowed him to persevere through those times he is slowly accepting the fact that it is something that will never return. One of the few things he can do is sympathize with those who have gone through similar experiences, one being a cat he used as a guinea pig before he turned himself invisible.
Erratic
Compare to a normal human being he is quite erratic, and his daily routine and mood are nothing short of random. Every day he wakes up at a different time, and his morning is always different. Maybe one day he wants to eat breakfast, maybe the next he wants to continue his experiments. One thing is for certain, though, he is as unpredictable as a keg of gunpowder left near an open flame. Prone to explode at any moment, and often with unpredictable and quite often dangerous results.
